Greetings from Miss Daisy

Post by Warren » Tue Nov 12, 2019 2:49 am

My newly acquired S550 with almost all the options. I feel like I should be chauffeuring somebody around whenever I drive it. I also know it's going to keep me busy when I get around to retiring. ABC suspension, distronic cruise control, night vision. What could go wrong?
Who has the MB Star system? I'm about to purchase one for myself. I have the Dell D630 on the way. I'm sure I'm going to need it.

I've had the SDS STAR system for a few years now.

They are Chinese clones of the Mercedes-Benz STAR software with reversed engineered C3 or C4 multiplexors.
These systems are usually sold with a Lenovo Thinkpad or Dell D630 laptop that have all of the data stored on the Hard drive.
The golden rule is NEVER to attempt to clone or copy the Hard Drive. The Chinese sellers put on a "Chinese Lock" so when you try to boot up the original HDD or the one you have cloned it just will not work. You then have to contact the seller and Pay to get it unlocked or buy another HDD with the software pre-installed.
The irony is that they have pirated the software from Mercedes and put on 'Z Protect' to stop anyone copying it

I've been shopping for the C4 clone for a while now, but there are SO many sellers out there it's hard to decide who to take a chance on. Obviously I would buy one with the software loaded on a HDD for my Dell. I already have a copy of the software on my computer, which is handy to look up the WIS information.
Doing lower control arm this weekend and the ABC flush in the near future. Hopefully that's all it needs in the short term. Getting the scowley face from the other half lately.
As a side note, I'm not seeing the option to download pictures here. I read your post on how to do it, but I am just not seeing those options.

Miss Daisy got new lower control arms today. Seems simple, but it never seems to end up that way. What could go wrong?
